The MARES Club is a Madison, Wisconsin based equestrian club for women, which meets monthly and participates in a variety of endeavors. With a membership of over 100 women, MARES continues to grow and act as a resource for horsewomen in the Dane county area. In addition, MARES also puts out a regular newsletter detailing upcoming club outings, news, and other horse-related events.
Our membership represents all disciplines so we have a HUGE network and help each other buy and sell, set up leases, teach lessons, do training, haul horses ... you name it, we do it!
We also assist horse people nation-wide with relocation issues, for example, finding a boarding stable; advice on location for specific needs, etc....

Month of the Horse
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has officially declared April as “Wisconsin Month of the Horse”! In the proclamation, we are encouraged to “be mindful of the contribution of horses to the economy, history and character of Wisconsin”. Thank your horse(s) for its part in your life ...a special treat, a massage, a day of rest, an extra hug...how lucky we are to have these animals as our companions. See the April Newsletter for the entire proclamation (page 2).
Best Fly Sheet
In this month’s “Horse Journal”, a guide to horse products, care and service, their annual “torture test” on fly sheets results are in...and the winner is- Schnieder’s Flyshield with Adjusta-Fit neck. They found it to hold up best, kept rubbing at a minimum, simple to put on, and the sheet held up spectacularly! It retails for $74.95 at 800-365-1311.
